Online Applications are invited from eligible candidates to apply for admission to various PhD disciplines including PhD in Psychology at the University of Madras for the academic session of January 2023. The Application details are mentioned below.
The University of Madras was founded through a public petition filed on 11 December 1839. In January 1840, the university board was established with Mr. George Norton as its first President. The University is structured in the same as London University. Madras University is one of South India’s oldest universities. The University manages several institutions and offers various graduation, post-graduate, and doctoral programs through its many departments.
Department of Psychology
Name of the Course: Ph.D. in Psychology
Duration of the Course: 3-6 Years (1-Year Exempted after completion of M. Phil Clinical Psychology)
Eligibility Criteria: The candidate should have completed the PG degree program after completing UG degree in the format 10+2+UG Degree (3 or more years) or 11+1+ UG Degree (3 or more years). . Candidates should have obtained at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade B in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) in the PG degree.
Application procedure:
The Candidate is required to click on the “APPLY NOW” link mentioned below and click on the New Registration for January 2023 session. The link to pay the application fee is also mentioned below. After Completing the Online Application, the candidate must print the hard copy of the application and post it to their concerned department/university. The university will conduct the entrance examination shortly.

Procedure for Conduct of Entrance Examination:
Parts of the Entrance Test: Written + Oral Examination
Written Test Marks: 35
Oral Test Marks: 15
The Entrance will test the candidate’s research aptitude and knowledge of the subject and research methodology. The Candidate is expected to score 25 out of 50 Marks on the Entrance test.
