Applications are being invited by the University of Calcutta from eligible candidates for admission to Ph.D. in Psychology Program. In the year 1857, the University of Calcutta came into existence. The university is considered the first Western-style institution in Asia. This university serves various undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), Doctorate, and Diploma courses in various fields including Psychology. Initially, the University of Calcutta accepted the structure of the University of London. After adopting the pattern, the University of Calcutta modified the structure as per its own rules.
Essential Qualification
It is mandatory for candidates to complete M.A. /M.Sc. in Psychology /Applied Psychology /Clinical Psychology /Development Psychology /Experimental Psychology /Social Psychology /Health Psychology /Industrial and Organizational Psychology.

Candidates should attach the necessary documents including Marksheet of Master’s Degree, NET /SET /M.Phil. (If applicable), Age Proof certificate, Caste Certificate (If applicable), etc. along with the application. After this, students need to send these documents along with the filled-out application form to the address mentioned below.

Students need to make the payment of ₹100/- as the fee for the application through a challan.

Exemption of Entrance Exam
The candidates, who have cracked the exams of UGC (JRF) /NET /SET /SLET /Teacher Fellowship or equivalent examination and Candidates who have passed the exam of M.Phil. Clinical Psychology or equivalent examinations need not appear for the written examination need not attempt the entrance exam for Ph.D. Psychology.
The students who fulfill any condition of these need not send the application form. However, they need to appear directly in the interview within the given date i.e. 19 December 2023.
Important Dates
The last date to submit the application form with the necessary attached documents is 08 December 2023. The entrance exam will be on 18 December 2023.
The period of taking the exam is from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, hence the time for writing the exam would be 2 hours. The result of the examination will be announced on 19 December 2023 till 10:30 AM in the Department of Psychology Notice Board.
The date for the interview is the same as the date of the result announcement i.e. 19 December 2023 at 11:00 AM.
