The prestigious University of Calcutta has announced the commencement of admissions for the Ph.D. program in Applied Psychology for the year 2023.

Ph.D. in Applied Psychology is designed to prepare students for careers in research, teaching, and practice. The program emphasizes academic excellence, critical thinking, and innovative research. Essential Qualification & Seats Available

The crucial qualification for being eligible for Ph.D. in Psychology at the University of Calcutta is an M.A. / M.Sc. In Applied Psychology/ Psychology.

Number of Seats: Maximum 5 students (Unreserved – 4, OBC A – 1).

Application Procedure

Eligible candidates should apply in the prescribed application form attached by paying Rs.100/-. The Duly filled-in application form along with self-attested photocopies of relevant certificates and mark sheets of the Master’s degree must reach the office (physically or by post) of the Head of the Department by Friday, 15/09/2023.

Examination Procedure

The eligible students will have to appear in a written examination. The duration of the written exam will be 2:30 hours. The examination will be held on September 21, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM in offline mode.

The syllabi of this examination will be based on the UGC NET Psychology Paper and the existing syllabus of M.A./M.Sc in Applied Psychology. The result of this written examination shall be released by Wednesday, September 27, 2023 and will be communicated to the students.

The candidates who will pass the written exam will be called for an interview on Thursday, 05/10/2023. The candidates finally selected on the basis of the interview will be enrolled as Probationary Ph.D. students of this Department.

Guidelines for Written Examination

This written exam will be of 100 Marks. For this written examination, the candidates will have to write a research proposal of 75 marks using concepts/keywords provided at the time of the examination. The maximum word limit for the proposal will be 1000. Also, the candidates have to answer 1 question within 400 words (out of five alternatives) for 25 marks. All responses must be in English.
The candidates with UGC (JRF) /NET/SET/SLET/ or passed the M.Phil. in Psychology or equivalent examinations need not appear for the written examination but they need to appear directly for the interview but they need to submit their application forms.
