In the past, most major universities used to conduct their entrance examinations for admissions. However, starting in 2022, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has broadened the scope of the Common University Entrance Test for Postgraduate (CUET-PG), previously known as CUCET. Beginning with the academic year 2023, prominent institutions such as Delhi University, BHU, AUD, TISS, NSUT, and various other esteemed public and private universities have opted to utilize CUET-PG as the standardized entrance test for admissions into their postgraduate programs, including MA/M.Sc Psychology courses.

Some universities have their separate Entrance Exams (other than CUET-PG), like Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Fergusson College, Christ University etc. All these universities, including the GATE exam, have weightage from the aptitude section.
