Gauhati University has opened applications for admission to the Master in Clinical Psychology (MClinPsy-RCI) program on behalf of Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi Regional Institute of Mental Health (LGBRIMH), Tezpur, Assam, for the 2026 academic session.

NOTE: One seat is reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) as a horizontal reservation, in accordance with Government of India norms. Candidates must fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria and obtain the qualifying GU-PGET cutoff (where applicable).

Category-wise Reservation

  • OBC (NCL): Candidates must submit a valid certificate in the prescribed DoPT format. The certificate should not be older than one year from the last date of the online application.
  • EWS: Candidates must submit a valid EWS certificate in the prescribed Government of India format.
  • SC/ST/PwBD: Reservation will be applicable as per Government of India rules.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must satisfy any one of the following eligibility requirements to apply for admission into LGBRIMH’s MClinPsy-RCI program:

  • A 4-year BA or BSc degree in Psychology from a UGC-recognized university with:
    • Minimum 55% aggregate marks
    • Minimum 50% aggregate marks for SC/ST candidates, as per Government of India norms.

OR

  • Candidates with a 3-year Bachelor’s degree in Psychology are also eligible if they have completed any one of the following:
    • A one-year Bridge Course in Psychology, or
    • The first year of a Master’s program in Psychology, with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks.

Method of Selection

Admission to the MClinPsy-RCI program at LGBRIMH, Tezpur, is based on the candidate’s performance in the Gauhati University Postgraduate Entrance Test (GU-PGET) 2026, followed by counselling and document verification.

Final selection is based on:

  • Merit in GU-PGET 2026
  • Fulfilment of the prescribed eligibility criteria

Application Process and Fee

Candidates can apply online through the Gauhati University Admission Portal by following these steps:

  • Register on the admission portal using a valid email ID and mobile number.
  • Complete the registration by verifying the OTP sent to your registered email.
  • Log in to your account.
  • Fill in your personal and academic details.
  • Select Master in Clinical Psychology (M.Clin.Psy) from the list of available programmes.
  • Pay the application fee online, through Internet Banking/UPI/Debit Card/QR-based payment/Digital Wallets. The application fee is non-refundable.
  • Submit the application form and download a copy for future reference.

NOTE: Candidates are advised to keep a printed copy of the submitted application form and payment receipt for counselling and future reference.

Monthly Stipend

Selected candidates are eligible to receive a monthly stipend of Rs 25,000 per month during the two-year program (subject to Institute rules).

Important Instructions

Applicants should note the following:

  • Candidates appearing in the final qualifying examination may apply.
  • They must produce their final mark sheets before counselling.
  • Original documents will be verified during counselling.
  • OBC certificate must be in the Central Government format.
  • Admission is full-time.
  • Part-time or correspondence courses are not permitted during training.
  • Selected candidates must submit Migration and Transfer Certificates at admission.
  • Valid government photo ID is mandatory.
  • Hostel accommodation is subject to availability.
