Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey (SNDT) Women’s University was established in 1916 by Maharshi Dr. Dhondo Keshav Karve with the aim of educating women. It is not only the first Women’s University in India but in Southeast Asia as well. The University has three campuses with headquarters in Churchgate, Mumbai, and Juhu, Mumbai & Karve Road, Pune are the other two campuses. The University works towards changing socio-economic needs and making education accessible for women in both formal and non-formal modes. Thus, the motto of the University is “An Enlightened woman is a source of infinite strength”.

The University has opened its application form for the year 2023, the Master’s Degree Program in Psychology. It is a two-year (4-semester) program in on-campus mode. The first year includes core subjects, and the second includes electives and research work. The electives in the second year are based on merit, and Dissertation submission is a mandatory part of the course.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who wish to apply must match the following criteria –

  • The applicant must be a psychology graduate from SNDT Women’s University or any recognized University.
  • Students of other sources should be graduated with the completion of 8 courses of 4 credits and at least one practical course of 4 credits.

  • Smt. P.N. Doshi Women’s College, Mumbai
  • Department of Psychology, Churchgate Campus
  • Maniben Nanavati Women’s College, Vile-Parle (West)
  • Department of Psychology, Pune Campus

Admission Procedure

The applicants are selected based on merit, i.e. marks scored in graduation.

The annual intake for Churchgate Campus, Mumbai- 3o Students

Intake for Department in Karve Road, Pune Campus –

  • Aided Program – 25 Students (per specialization)
  • Self-Financed Program – 30 Students

Medium of Instruction

There are different modes of instruction in the two campuses offering MA Psychology

  • Churchgate campus, Mumbai – English
  • Karve Road, Pune Campus – Marathi (aided), Permitted to write Exams in English
