The Institute of Psychiatry, Kolkata is a government-run mental health institution in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. The institute is one of the oldest psychiatric hospitals in the country. It is affiliated with the West Bengal University of Health Sciences and the University of Calcutta and is also recognized as a center of excellence by the Government of India.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for M.Phil Clinical Psychology at IOP, students should have completed their MA /MSc in Psychology /Applied Psychology or equivalent course from any university recognized by the UGC. Besides this, candidates must have gained at least 55% marks.

There is a relaxation of 5% marks for the candidates belonging to the category of SC /ST /OBC-A /OBC-B candidates.

After the examination, candidates will have to appear in an interview conducted by WBUHS. The personal interview carries 15% weightage and the entrance exam carries 85% weightage. Those candidates will not be ranked in the merit list who fail to appear in personal interviews.

Marking Scheme of MPhil Exam

  1. For each correct answer, students will get 1 mark.
  2. There will be no marking for unattempted questions.
  3. Make sure that you choose the only ONE correct option according to you. In case, if you select more than one question, there will be ZERO marking for that question even if it contains the right answer.

Important Instructions

  1. Candidates are advised to reach the examination center at least half an hour before the commencement of the examination.
  2. You should not carry any papers, calculators, pens, watches, phones, or any other electronic devices into the exam room. If someone is caught with these things, they will be reported and their chance to take the test will be canceled.
  3. Candidates must take the test only at the center assigned to them, as stated on their admit card.
