Dr. Homi Bhabha State University (HBSU), Mumbai

Dr. Homi Bhabha State University is a state-public university based in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The university comprises Elphinstone College, Institute of Science, Sydenham College, and Secondary Training College, with Grade ‘A’ accreditation by the NAAC. It is established under Rashtriya Ucchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA). The university also follows a Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) that enables students to select courses as per their preference.

Eligibility Criteria for HBSU Ph.D. in Psychology

The duration of a Ph.D. program is usually between 3-4 years. The minimum qualification required for this course is MA/M.Sc degree in Psychology with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate. Also, the candidate must clear the PET/GATE / UGC NET exam.

Application Procedure

The students must register themselves on the portal and fill out the application form. The application form includes Personal Details, Address, and Academic History. Candidates also have to upload their passport-size photograph and signature to complete the registration. The last date to apply for the course is May 30, 2023.

The Institute of Science in Mumbai, originally named the Royal Institute of Science (RIS), was founded in 1920 through a Royal Charter. It stands as a distinguished institution for advanced education and research.

The Elphinstone College

In 1935, the Elphinstone Institution came into existence through the Bombay Native Education (Trust). This college boasts an extensive library housing a diverse collection of more than a hundred thousand books. It has received a prestigious Grade ‘A’ accreditation from the NAAC, solidifying its reputation in the realm of higher education within the country.

The Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics

Commencing its journey on October 22, 1913, this institution was originally named the Government College of Commerce. The college has earned the esteemed ‘A’ grade accreditation from NAAC. Additionally, in 2018, it was designated as a faculty development center by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) in New Delhi.

Secondary Training College

The Secondary Training College, situated in Mumbai, stands as a leading institution for teacher training in the city. Its inception dates back to 1906, in alignment with the directives of the Wood’s Dispatch of 1854. Originally, it granted diplomas (S.T.C.), but after gaining permanent affiliation with the University of Mumbai, it began awarding Bachelor of Teaching (B.T.) degrees.
