Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has started accepting applications for its MA Psychology program for the academic year 2026.

Eligibility Criteria for MA Psychology at JMI

To apply for the MA Psychology program at JMI, candidates must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA Hons) in Psychology with a Minimum of 50% marks from a UGC recognized university.
  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following, with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks from a UGC recognized university:
    • BA/BSc/BCom/BBA
    • BA (Hons)/BSc (Hons)/BCom (Hons)
    • BSc (Home Science)

Pattern of Exam MA Psychology Program

Admission to the MA Psychology at JMI will be based on merit determined through an Entrance Test conducted by the University.

  • The Entrance Test will be Objective in nature (Multiple Choice Questions).
  • Negative Marking: 0.25 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
  • Admission is strictly merit-based.
  • Absence in any component of the entrance process will result in forfeiture of the admission.
  • No request for rechecking or re-evaluation of answer scripts will be entertained.

Application Process and Fee for the MA Psychology Program at JMI

  • Applications must be submitted online only.
  • Candidates must apply through the official admission portal of the Jamia Millia Islamia.
  • Application Fee: Rs. 700/-
  • Application fee once paid is non-refundable (except failed transactions identified by JMI).
  • Payment Mode: Credit Card, Debit Card, Net Banking, and UPI.

Documents & Verification

  • No documents (except a photograph and a signature) are required to be uploaded with the online application.
  • All original documents (Mark sheets, Certificates, Score Cards, etc.) will be verified at the time of admission:
    • At the office of the concerned Head/Director of the Department/Centre, i.e., Department of Psychology.
  • Candidate details (address, mobile number, etc.) will be verified using the Aadhaar Card at the time of admission.
  • The qualifying examination result must be complete and valid on the day of admission.

Admit Card Details

  • Information regarding the availability of the Admit Card will be communicated to candidates via SMS on their registered mobile number, Email, or through the admission portal.
  • Once available, candidates must download and print the Admit Card.
  • After printing, candidates are required to paste a self-attested recent coloured passport-size photograph in the space provided.
  • Candidates must carefully follow the instructions printed on the Admit Card.
  • It is mandatory to carry a valid ID proof along with the Admit Card on the day of the Entrance Test.

Important Instructions Regarding Test Centers

  • For the MA Psychology, candidates may choose one of the following Entrance Test Centers while filling out the online application form:
    • Delhi, Lucknow, Guwahati, Patna, Kolkata, Srinagar, Calicut, Bhopal, Jaipur, Dehradun, Kishanganj.
  • Candidates must select their preferred city from the list during online application.
  • The second preference is automatically set as Delhi by default.
  • If the number of applicants for a program in a particular city is 49 or fewer, the Entrance Test may be conducted in Delhi or another city as decided by JMI.
  • Final details of the test center will be communicated through the Admit Card.
  • No request for change of Entrance Test Centre will be entertained after submission.
  • Only candidates carrying:
    • A valid Admit Card with self-attested coloured passport-size photograph, and
    • A valid Government-issued ID (Aadhaar Card or equivalent) will be permitted to appear for the Entrance Test.
  • Candidates are advised to print two copies of the Admit Card, as one copy must be surrendered to the invigilator at the test center.
  • After the final date of application editing, candidate details (such as category or program) will not be changed at any stage.
