Method of Selection for MPhil Clinical Psychology at Calcutta University
Selection for the MPhil Clinical Psychology program at Calcutta University will be based on an Offline Entrance Examination, which will include a Written Examination & Viva-voce.
- Final Selection will be based on the combined marks obtained in the Entrance Examination, Written Exam (100-marks) and Viva-voce (50-marks).
- Merit list is prepared strictly according to total marks obtained (150 marks).
- The final selection list with scores will be published on the official website.
- Cut-off marks for reserved categories will be applied as per the University of Calcutta rules and norms.

Eligibility Criteria for MPhil Clinical Psychology Admission at Calcutta University
- Students must have completed an MA/MSc in Psychology, Applied Psychology, or Clinical Psychology from a UGC-recognized university with a minimum of:
- 55% aggregate marks for General category students
- 50% aggregate marks for SC / ST / OBC-A / OBC-B / PwD students
- Final-year postgraduate students may also apply, provided they are able to submit their final marksheets or grades on or before the date of the viva voce.
NOTE: As per University of Calcutta regulations, reservation policies apply only to students domiciled in West Bengal.
Exam Pattern of MPhil Clinical Psychology Exam at Calcutta University
The admission process for MPhil Clinical Psychology program at Calcutta University consists of a written entrance exam followed by a viva voce.
Written Exam (100 Marks)
The written test is divided into two parts:
- Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs):
- 60 MCQs × 1 mark each = 60 marks
- Negative marking: 0.25 marks deducted for each incorrect answer
- Duration: 1 hour
- Long Answer Question:
- 1 descriptive question = 40 marks
- Duration: 30 minutes
Eligibility for long answer evaluation: Only candidates who secure at least 25% marks in the MCQ section will have their long answer question evaluated:
- General category: 15 out of 60-marks
- SC / ST / PwD: 11 out of 60-marks
- OBC-A & OBC-B: 13.5 out of 60-marks
NOTE: Negative marking of 0.25 marks is applicable for each incorrect response in the MCQ section.
Viva Voce (50 Marks)
- Candidates shortlisted based on written exam’s performance will be called for the viva voce.
- The viva voce carries 50 marks.

Step4: Create APAAR / ABC ID
- Applicants must create an APAAR ID / ABC ID as per the instructions provided on the portal.
Step5: Submit & Download Application
- After successful submission, download and print the completed application form for future reference.
Step6: Pay Application Fee
- Pay the application fee online through the payment gateway.

- General & Other candidates: Rs. 1000/-
- SC/ST/PWD candidates: Rs. 500/-
- The University of Calcutta will treat applications without fee payment as incomplete.
