Aurora Higher Education and Research Academy, Telangana, has begun accepting applications for its Psychology Programs for the 2025-26 session. The University was established under Section 03 of the UGC Act 1956 in 2022 and gained the status of Deemed-To-Be-University from the University Grants Commission (UGC). The University has two Campuses, Uppal, Hyderabad, and Bhongir, Yadadri district.

Method of Selection

Selection in Aurora University’s BSc Psychology (Honors) and MSc Clinical Psychology will be based on an Online Entrance Exam known as the Aurora University Entrance Exam (AUEE).

The Programs

These are the following programs for which the university has released its application forms:

1. BSc Psychology (Honors)

What it is: An undergraduate degree that gives students a strong foundation in psychology.

Focus/Course Highlights

  • It is a multi-layered program with four layers, i.e., Core Education, External Certifications, Foreign Language, and Talent Enrichment.
  • Delivered over Four Terms per academic year, the course includes comprehensive modules in Cognitive Psychology, Biological Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Research Methods, Psychological Statistics, Abnormal Psychology, Neuropsychology, and more.
  • Students will engage in Internship opportunities each year, placed in reputable settings such as psychiatric hospitals, NGOs, child development centers, and counselling institutions, ensuring practical exposure and skill application.
  • The fourth year focuses extensively on research training, allowing students to develop and present independent research projects.

Who it’s for: Students fresh out of school who are curious about how the mind works and want to explore psychology in depth.

Outcome: Candidates will be ready for further studies (like MSc), entry-level jobs, or internships in mental health, education, or research.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must have completed their 12th or an equivalent examination in any stream (Science, Humanities, and Commerce) from a recognised board or institution.
  • Must have a minimum aggregate of 55% marks.

Exam Pattern

  1. The Entrance Exam will include 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
  2. The total time allotted for the exam will be 90 minutes.
  3. Every correct answer will result in 1 mark. There’s no negative marking.

2. MSc Clinical Psychology

What it is: A postgraduate, specialized degree focusing on mental health and clinical assessment.

Focus/Course Highlight

  • It is a two-year, multi-layered, postgraduate program with three layers, i.e., Core Education, External Certifications, and Foreign Language.
  • Students receive thorough training in Psychopathology, Cognitive Psychology, Counselling Skills, Psychopharmacology, Positive Psychology, and Personality Theories, among others.
  • A wide range of professional electives are offered, including Child Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Family and Marital Therapy, Rehabilitation Psychology, and Organizational Psychology.
  • Each academic year includes internship placements at mental health institutions, counselling centers, rehabilitation clinics, and community-based organizations.
  • The program places strong emphasis on independent research, encouraging publication and presentation, and aims to prepare students for roles in academia, clinical settings, and policy development.

Who it’s for: Graduates (often with a psychology background) aiming to become mental health professionals.

Outcome: Leads to careers in therapy, clinical practice, hospitals, and rehabilitation, and opens doors to licensing paths for becoming a licensed Clinical Psychologist in India.
