Here&#8217;s everything you need to know before the May 20 deadline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Eligibility Criteria for UGC NET June 2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The National Testing Agency (NTA) has outlined the following eligibility criteria for UGC NET June 2026:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Educational Qualification &#8211; Master\u2019s Degree route<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Candidates must have a <strong>Master\u2019s degree or equivalent<\/strong> from a university recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Minimum required marks:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>55%<\/strong> for General \/ Unreserved \/ EWS candidates<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>50%<\/strong> for OBC-NCL \/ SC \/ ST \/ PwD \/ PwBD \/ Third Gender candidates<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Marks should be calculated <strong>without rounding off<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Final-Year and Result Awaited Candidates<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Candidates who are:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Appearing in final year of Master\u2019s<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Awaiting results<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Facing delayed results: <strong>eligible to apply<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Such candidates will be admitted <strong>provisionally<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They must:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Complete their Master\u2019s within <strong>2 years<\/strong> (<em>for JRF\/Assistant Professor eligibility<\/em>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete within <strong>1 year<\/strong> (<em>for PhD admission only<\/em>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Failure to meet this condition: <strong>disqualification<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4-Year Bachelor\u2019s Degree route<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Not many candidates know this: if you hold a <strong>4-year\/8-semester Bachelor&#8217;s degree<\/strong>, you may still be eligible to apply, even without a Master&#8217;s degree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Minimum marks required:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>75%<\/strong> (<em>General category<\/em>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>70%<\/strong> (<em>Reserved categories \u2013 5% relaxation<\/em>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Eligible for:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Junior Research Fellowship (JRF)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ph.D. admission<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Not eligible<\/strong> for:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Assistant Professor position<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Final-year UG students can also apply (<em>provisional basis<\/em>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Examination Pattern, Marking Scheme &amp; Syllabus for UGC NET Psychology 2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the UGC NET exam in a single session, with no breaks in between. As per the guidelines followed in Central Universities and institutions deemed to be universities, seat distribution is as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Category-wise Reservation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Scheduled Caste (SC):<\/strong> 15% of seats<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Scheduled Tribe (ST):<\/strong> 7.5% of seats<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Other Backward Classes (OBC \u2013 Non-Creamy Layer):<\/strong> 27% of seats <em>(as per Central List)<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>General \u2013 Economically Weaker Sections (Gen-EWS):<\/strong> 10% of seats<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>5% reservation<\/strong> is provided horizontally across all categories<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Applicable to candidates with <strong>40% or more disability<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Important Note:<\/strong> Reservation is implemented as per norms set by the GoI.
