RCI Approved M.Clin.Psy. Institutions in India | Complete List

Are you searching for colleges that offer the new RCI-recognised Master in Clinical Psychology (M.Clin.Psy)?
From the 2026 academic session, the Master in Clinical Psychology will replace the M.Phil in Clinical Psychology as the RCI-approved route to become a licensed Clinical Psychologist in India. Many students already know that 2025 will be the last intake for M.Phil Clinical Psychology, and institutions are now preparing to introduce the newly RCI-regulated Master in Clinical Psychology (M.Clin.Psy) program.

This article will help you understand the course structure, eligibility, and admission process of the RCI-recognised Master in Clinical Psychology (M.Clin.Psy). We have also shared the list of institutions that are recognised by RCI for MA Clinical Psychology

What is the RCI-Regulated Master in Clinical Psychology?

The Master in Clinical Psychology (M.Clin.Psy), regulated by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), is a professional postgraduate course specifically designed to train students to become licensed Clinical Psychologists in India. This course replaces the earlier M.Phil in Clinical Psychology program from 2025-26 onwards and provides both academic knowledge and practical clinical training under RCI guidelines.

It is important to understand that this RCI-recognised Master in Clinical Psychology (M.Clin.Psy) is different from the regular MA or MSc degrees in Psychology, Applied Psychology, or Clinical Psychology offered by many universities such as Delhi University (DU), Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), and others.

Those university-based master’s degrees are general academic programs in psychology and do not include the supervised clinical training or professional licensing eligibility that the RCI course provides. As a result, students who complete a regular MA or MSc in Psychology cannot register with the RCI as Clinical Psychologists unless they complete the RCI-recognised course (previously M.Phil, now the new MA in Clinical Psychology).
