Guru Gobind Sing Indraprastha University has started inviting applications for the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Medical Sciences and Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital (ABVIMS-RML), New Delhi’s MPhil in Clinical Psychology program for the academic session of 2025-26.

About The RML

Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, formerly known as Willingdon Hospital, was established by the British in 1933 with just 54 beds for their personnel. Later, after its transfer to the Indian Government in 1954, it expanded exponentially and now has more than 1500+ beds and is spread across 30 acres, offering broad and super-speciality departments with 24/7 emergency services.

The Psychiatry Department of the hospital, launched in 1943, now has 72 beds and is recognised as a Centre of Excellence in the field of Mental Health in India. Since May 2015, the Department has been affiliated with GGSIP University, New Delhi (GGSIPU) for providing MPhil Clinical Psychology. The MPhil Clinical Psychology course offered by them is recognised by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), meets the regulatory requirements for professional training in clinical psychology.

Process of Selection

Common Entrance Test (CET):

  • The University or an authorized agency will conduct a Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to the MPhil Clinical Psychology program.
  • The University may conduct the CET online (CBT) or offline (OMR-based) at designated centers. They will announce the exact mode on the University website.
  • Exam format:
    • Duration: 2 hours
    • Type: 100 MCQs
    • Marking: 4 marks per question, no negative marking

Procedure for Admission:

  1. CET Examination – Eligible candidates appear for the MCQ-based CET.
  2. Qualifying Marks:
    • General category: 50%
    • SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layer)/PwD/EWS: 45% (5% relaxation).
  3. Merit List & Shortlisting:
    • Candidates who meet the qualifying marks will be ranked in a merit list.
    • Candidates are shortlisted for interviews at a ratio of 3 candidates per seat (as per reservation rules).
  4. Final Selection:
    • 90% weightage – CET marks
    • 10% weightage – Interview performance
    • The final list will be prepared based on the combined scores.

Eligibility Criteria & Syllabus

Candidates must fulfil the following criteria to get admission into ABVIMS-RML Hospital’s MPhil Clinical Psychology Program:

  • Candidates must have a Master’s Degree in Psychology (or Equivalent) with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate. The University gives preference to candidates who studied Clinical Psychology as a special paper in their master’s.
  • SC/ST/OBC-NCL (Non-Creamy Layer)/EWS/PwD candidates must have a minimum of 50% in aggregate.
  • The University will not accept degrees earned through correspondence, part-time, or distance education for admission into ABVIMS-RMLH’s MPhil Clinical Psychology program.

Course Duration & Number of Seats

  • Duration: 2 Years; Full-time course

Reservation Policy: Seats will be reserved as per the Central Government’s Reservation Policy.

Admission Basis: Admissions to the M.Phil Clinical Psychology programme will be conducted on an All-India basis.

Application Process & Fee

  • To apply for the MPhil Clinical Psychology at ABVIMS-RML Hospital, candidates need to fill out the application form attached below.
  • After filling out the form carefully and attaching all the necessary documents to it, candidates need to submit the form in hard copy. Along with it, they need to pay the application fee (non-refundable) to the University Facilitation Centre (PRO office), Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Dwarka Sector-16C, New Delhi-110078.
  • The Application fee is Rs 2500. Candidates need to submit the application fee by a demand draft (DD) in the name of “Registrar, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University”.
